Do schools need to get in touch with all their old boys and girls over many years to get the suport they no longer have from communities? If schools had the goodwill and the feedback from ex-pupils instead of school being somewhere people just forget would it make a difference to the morale of everyone involved in schools? In Nottingham many people still live near the school they attended but have no contact or input into their old schools. School is about the past, the present and the future but links with the lives of ex-pupils are an area that could make a massive input on the direction of a school.

What is an underclass?
Is the creation of the underclass really an economic imperative to protect other groups? If you have a permanent underclass then you have a permanent obligation to provide charity but never full rights (which are expensive?) to all people. How powerful are the categories of ‘poor’, ‘black’, ‘white’, ‘violent’, ‘aggressive’, ‘mentally ill’?
Rush Hour
Turn your weapons into acceptable modes of transportation for people, goods and livestock……..
I live on a busy main road. 6,000 vehicles a day pass my house. Across the road where all the trees have been chopped down I can see the progression of the new bypass road. It’s fascinating to watch. Building and construction is amazing and absorbing: the contractors and constructors are skilled and considerate but everyone knows that all this money, effort and time should really be spent on reducing the volume of traffic on the road,
Politics
I would like to believe that understanding histories is the beginning of politics. I want to vote for politicians and political parties who consider everyone important and valid. Is that too much to expect?

Written – Looking for the write mix: new papers worth reading….
Hi
I develop ideas into new papers. I’m starting this blog because I want to create a new six weekly paper. It’s vision will be to be light, yet thought provoking. It is going to be a paper with a living ‘eye’ that will connect with the disconnection of the rush hour, the school run, the way to school, college and university. It’s going to ask questions and look for replies. It will be a living thing that everyone involved with it will believe in, but it will belong to its readers. Would you like to start thinking about the sort of paper you’d really rate? Blog in and belong to a new paper that’s not going to be self centred…..blog comments about newspapers, what’s wrong with ‘news’ stories? Have you been featured in a newspaper either well or badly? How can we present really interesting stories about skills, talents, new businesses in old communities? How can people connect to the things that really matter to them through newspapers?
